Hey,

it's Marc.

Have you ever noticed

how one unfinished task

can follow you around

all day?

You leave your desk.

Make dinner.

Go for a walk.

Try to relax.

But somewhere

in the background,

your brain keeps reminding you:

"You still need to do that."

For a long time,

I thought the solution

was simple.

Finish everything.

Then my mind would finally

be quiet.

The problem?

There is always

something else to finish.

Another message.

Another task.

Another idea.

Another problem.

So I started doing something different.

Instead of trying

to finish everything,

I started closing the loop.

What helped me

Whenever something important

was still unfinished,

I wrote down exactly

what the next step was.

Not:

"Work on newsletter."

But:

"Write the first 200 words."

Not:

"Fix website."

But:

"Change the headline on the homepage."

Not:

"Deal with taxes."

But:

"Send the missing document."

That small difference

was surprisingly powerful.

Because uncertainty

creates mental friction.

If your brain doesn't know

what happens next,

the task can keep resurfacing.

But once there's

a clear next action,

you no longer have to keep

rehearsing it mentally.

You have somewhere

to return to.

The lesson

Productivity isn't always

about doing more.

Sometimes,

it's about giving your brain

fewer things

to keep track of.

So before you finish work today,

try this:

Write down

every unfinished task

that's still occupying your mind.

Then give each one

one clear next action.

You don't have to complete

everything tonight.

You just need to make sure

your brain knows

what happens next.

You might be surprised

how much lighter

your mind feels afterward.
