Hey,

it's Marc.

For a long time,

I thought food was mainly about

how my body looked.

Calories.

Protein.

Muscle.

Body fat.

Energy.

But I rarely thought about

what my food was doing

to my brain.

Until I started noticing something.

Some meals left me

feeling sharp and focused.

Others made me want

to do absolutely nothing.

Heavy.

Sluggish.

Unable to concentrate.

Same brain.

Same person.

Completely different mental state.

And it made me realize:

Food doesn't just influence

your body.

It also provides

the raw materials

your brain needs to function.

Your brain represents only

a small percentage

of your body weight.

Yet it consumes

a surprisingly large share

of your body's energy.

And energy isn't

the only thing that matters.

Your brain also depends on

amino acids,

essential fatty acids,

vitamins,

minerals

and a steady supply

of nutrients

to support normal function.

That means

what you eat repeatedly

can matter for things like

energy,

concentration

and overall brain health.

What helped me

I stopped looking for

the perfect "brain food."

Instead,

I started thinking about

the quality of my diet

as a whole.

Enough protein.

Eggs.

Fish.

Fruit.

Vegetables.

Nuts.

Whole-food carbohydrate sources.

Healthy fats.

And enough water.

Nothing exotic.

Nothing that requires

a $100 supplement stack.

Just giving my body

the basic nutrients

it needs consistently.

And I also started paying attention

to something even simpler:

How do I actually feel

after eating?

Focused?

Stable?

Satisfied?

Or tired,

sluggish

and immediately craving

something else?

Your response to a meal

can tell you a lot

about what works for you.

The lesson

We spend enormous amounts of time

trying to improve

our productivity.

Better apps.

Better routines.

Better supplements.

Better morning rituals.

But sometimes

we ignore something

far more fundamental.

The brain doing all that work

has to be fueled.

So before searching

for the next productivity hack,

look at what you're giving

your brain every day.

Because better cognitive performance

doesn't always start

with doing more.

Sometimes,

it starts

with what's on your plate.

Stay sharp
