Why Your Mood Crashes Without Warning
On Monday morning at 8:12 a friend of mine sent me a voice note
She sounded upset
not because something dramatic had happened
but because she felt her emotions had turned against her overnight
She told me that Sunday had been great
She had gone for a walk in the park around 4:00 PM
cooked dinner at 7:00 PM
watched a lighthearted movie before bed
and felt calm and content when she turned the lights off at 11:15
But when she woke up the next morning
her body felt heavy
her patience thin
and her thoughts restless and sharp
By the time she dropped her kids at school at 7:45 AM
she was already snapping at small things
and wondering why her emotions had flipped in just a few hours
She asked me
“How can I feel fine one day
and then like a storm cloud the next without any reason”
What does that mean
Mood swings are not always about circumstances
Often they are linked to fluctuations in hormones like estrogen and cortisol
When those levels rise or dip unexpectedly
your nervous system feels unstable
and your thoughts and feelings follow
Why this matters
If you have ever
felt fine one evening and overwhelmed the next morning
noticed certain days where focus and patience are impossible
or wondered why emotions shift without explanation
you are not imagining it
and you are not weak
your biology is part of the equation
What I would love from you
When was the last time you felt your mood crash out of nowhere
Did you connect it to sleep
stress
or maybe your cycle
