Why Your Brain Rejects Good Habits Even When They Make Sense
Here’s something that took me a long time to learn…
Just because something is good for you doesn’t mean your brain will accept it
In fact, it often pushes back
I’ve seen it so many times
in friends
in clients
in myself
You finally commit to something helpful
morning breathwork
a better bedtime
less screen time
more whole foods
And then
you skip it
delay it
sabotage it
Even though you know it helps
And that feels confusing
because it makes no logical sense
What does that mean
Your brain doesn’t follow logic
It follows patterns
It clings to what’s familiar
even if that familiar thing is stress
chaos
or low energy
So when you introduce something calm
something stable
something truly good
your system may interpret it as unfamiliar
and unfamiliar often feels unsafe
Why this matters
If you’ve ever felt resistance to habits that are good for you
if you’ve stopped doing what was working
or blamed yourself for not being consistent
You’re not weak
You’re not broken
You’re running old wiring in a new direction
And that’s not a failure
It’s just a transition
What I’d love from you
Have you noticed this in yourself
What is one habit you know helps you
but you struggle to stick with anyway
Reply to this email and tell me
I read every message
and I’m curious what your brain is holding on to
even when you’re ready to move forward
Stay sharp
